When COVID closures left New Orleans restaurants with usable food scheduled for disposal, the response network that became Fill the Needs redirected that food for Second Harvest Food Bank to prepare and distribute. Volunteers also prepared meals for quarantined residents and sourced masks, gloves, antibacterial gel, and face shields.
Mission Context
COVID created immediate food-access and public-health needs across New Orleans in 2020. This response happened before FTN’s formal incorporation and became part of the organization’s mission history.
